Have fun
For the most part, dogs with a lot of energy also want to have a lot of fun. We believe training should be enjoyable to both human and dog. It isn’t always sunshines and rainbows, but having more fun during learning will mean you and your dog will be more successful in the future.
Reward… a lot
Dogs – well, everyone actually – learn best through rewards. The more you reward a dog for something, the more likely they are to repeat that thing. Although it’s so very tempting to be reactive and punish a dog after they misbehave, we strongly believe that you will see the best results if you are proactive – actively teaching a dog something and finding reasons to reward rather than punishing or correcting them. And by the way, this goes for teaching our human students, too! We DO NOT agree with shaming dog owners!

Mutual understanding
Dogs and humans speak a different language. It takes effort to learn another language, and that labor often gets put solely on the dog. They have to figure out what all of our words mean – and dogs usually figure them out pretty well. We believe that owners owe it to their dogs to take that extra step and try to understand their dog’s point of view too. In addition to helping you understand your dog more, we also want to help your dog understand YOU more, too! This is a relationship, and it takes effort from the human and the dog.
